Culinary crayons that concentrate flavours and aromas. Using the sharpener provided, you shave them right over the plate just before serving, on a hot or cold dish, a bite-sized appetizer or a cocktail. This discovery box brings together three flavours (lemon, basil, tomato and thyme) so you can try this new way of seasoning.
Food Crayon handcrafts them in small batches in its Montréal workshop. Apple cider vinegar and salt act as preservatives, and agar-agar, a plant-based gelling agent extracted from seaweed, gives them their texture. Each crayon yields about 120 shavings.
What's inside: 3 culinary crayons (lemon, basil, tomato and thyme) and 1 sharpener.
Format: 3 crayons of 18 g, 54 g in total.
Allergens: ingredients vary by flavour, and this box may contain soy (tamari). Check the label on each crayon.
Serving suggestion: open the tube and sharpen the crayon over the plate: 5 to 10 shavings per plate, or 1 or 2 shavings on a bite-sized appetizer or in a cocktail, just before serving.
Storage: in a cool, dry place, away from light. Once opened, keep the crayons in the refrigerator in their tightly closed tube. They keep for 12 months.
Origin: handcrafted in small batches in Montréal.
