A spice blend made with real bacon and dune pepper, to sprinkle on as a finishing touch for a smoky note. Dune pepper is the male catkins of green alder (Alnus crispa), hand-picked on Indigenous land: they bring lemony, woody and resinous notes.
Épices du Guerrier is a First Nations company based in Québec City. Daniel Picard, who comes from the Huron community of Wendake, founded it in 2017 with his partner Patrice Dion. According to the maker, this blend is suitable for keto diets.
Format: 80 g resealable pouch.
Ingredients: bacon (pork, water, salt, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite), black pepper, sea salt, white pepper, pink peppercorn, garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder, dune pepper (Alnus crispa), yeast extract, dextrose, turmeric, paprika, canola oil, smoke flavour, cellulose fibre, cayenne pepper. An earlier version of the label lists: bacon (pork, water, salt, sodium erythorbate, sodium nitrite), blend of 3 peppers, salt, hickory-smoked salt, spices, Quebec dune pepper. Contents may vary by batch; refer to the label on the product you receive.
Allergens: contains pink peppercorn, garlic, onion and sulphites. May contain gluten: according to the maker, the ingredients are gluten-free but may have been processed in a facility that handles foods that may contain it.
Serving suggestion: sprinkle it directly on your dishes after cooking or as a finishing touch: eggs, omelettes, potatoes, roasted vegetables, grilled meats, hamburgers, pasta, soups, dips, salad dressings, grilled cheese sandwiches or popcorn. Since it contains real bacon, do not put it in a pepper mill.
Storage: after opening, reseal the pouch tightly and keep it in the refrigerator or freezer. Observe the date shown on the package.
Origin: company based in Québec City, in the Capitale-Nationale region.
